I recently made a mistake in how I reacted to a person working with me. He was basing his work around what others were not doing. I said to him, I know you are a great worker. I know you can do great. I have seen you do awesome work. These days, most people only hear the negative and what others aren’t doing and or do little of. Making things right is the best thing to do in creating the environment you seek to be a part of.
Fear and control are not the ways to really have workers want to apply theirselves in the work arena. Encouragement, being upfront and honest with your employees makes a huge difference in production quality and volume. Decide to make the workplace were people feel understood and welcomed. Every day every person faces challenges and someones huge periods of time of when it can be severe. You don’t know what is going on in their life. By being welcoming and understanding when violent situations start you will be able to keep the peace and strengthen the relationships. Make it be known, you are a person who can be trusted and build rapport. You will be listened to because your people will feel apart of a community.
